Water Quality Testing Program

Through a partnership with EarthEcho International, Greater Toledo Heritage and Horizons has brought hands-on environmental science to local students in Toledo, Washington. Students have conducted water-quality testing at Wallace Pond, gaining real-world STEM experience while learning about the environmental health of an important local resource.

Educational Impact

The testing program provides students with first-hand experience in data collection, analysis, and environmental stewardship. Students have uploaded their Wallace Pond testing results to the EarthEcho Water Challenge database, contributing their findings to a broader citizen-science effort while building a local record of environmental conditions at the pond.

Partnership and Collaboration

This initiative connects teachers, students, and community mentors. By linking science education with the natural environment, GTHH fosters curiosity while helping students understand the importance of monitoring and caring for local natural resources.

Looking Ahead

Future goals include continuing water-quality monitoring at Wallace Pond, expanding data collection and reporting, exploring additional appropriate sampling locations, and integrating the program with other STEM initiatives in the region. This effort reflects GTHH's mission of combining education, community involvement, and environmental stewardship for long-term public benefit.
